Hi Reader
How are you? Living your best life, tired, meh? You can reply – I’ll respond.
My life be like ‘ooooh ahhhh’
Friends, life can be a mixed bag. Opening up social media and scrolling for a minute will let you see a lot of highs, and you might not know it . . . but you’re comparing your life to what you see. Oh, okay, not you? Fine then, it’s okay to gloss over this paragraph. If this is you, I see you. It happens. I think I just may be guilty of this too. It happens.
Can I encourage you to do something? When you catch yourself in a comparison rut, speak out the things you are grateful for. Write it down too if you can. Every day. Like a pill you desperately need to stay alive, to stay afloat. Are you grateful you can read this on your phone, with access to data, grateful that you have someone that checks on you? Might not be your significant other just yet, but it’s someone who sees value in you all the same. Are you grateful for how far you’ve come? You’re not the best shape you want to be, but you’re here, you’re making progress.

I just want to say, I’m rooting for you. And . . . I really want you to have a healthier mind than you let on that you have, or than you even think you’re capable of having. Can you look after that beautiful mind of yours. It’s literally such a priceless, rare garden, capable of growing fruit that’ll outlive you, structures that will bring shade to others, and one that’ll bring you immense joy.
Can you LIVE, intentionally, purposefully?
Your life is waiting for you, to take hold of it with two hands, to unwrap it with excitement, unpack the treasure it is brimming with, and use all that’s within. It may not look like his or hers; you might feel stuck, behind, slow, but you know what? You can start where you are, with what you have, and the steps you take don’t have to let you almost trip. Don’t do past yourself (a.k.a don’t do the most).
Make that short list of places you want to visit – within your current means – that will bring you joy, and actually visit these places. Take pictures, treasure the memories. Stop stressing yourself my Gee. Make room for pockets of joy if you’re not used to it filling up your whole life. Start with pockets of joy, seeking moments to let joy out from within, and let it gradually ease its way into your conversations, work, and more.
Living intentionally and purposefully will look different for you. That’s okay. For them it may have looked like travel, a promotion, date night. For you it may look like buying yourself FanIce, finally being able to live without medication, getting that job interview, that’s okay. Remember, let’s keep our eyes off their races, lanes, and backs and keep it on our tracks, destination and celebrate our progress.
BREATHE
If you’ve read earlier emails, you’ll know I’m a fan of breathing. I sometimes have been caught deep sighing. I promise you, it’s a relieving thing. Free your chest, and breathe deep. The economy, work or lack thereof will not be the end of you my darl’.
Sugar sugar sugar
Okay – this is me celebrating my own progress with you. If you know me, you know me and sugar are besties. But I’m two weeks into my no sugar/processed food journey. I feel more disciplined, legit lighter (by a couple kg), and realise what a crutch these things we claim we love can be. If this resonates with you somehow, I’m shouting from the rooftops to encourage you to make whatever decision it is to let go of what isn’t serving you well. I would lie if I said I was powered on my own to let go of sugar LOL. Mine is God-led and empowered, so please, get some divine strength. Let me know if you decide to get rid of something that’s weighing you down, and how it’s going for you. I would love to know, and sharing helps with accountability too.
Some music for you
Because I care, here’s a playlist for your heart and soul. A pick me up of sorts - Untitled Playlist.
Okay, I’ve typed up quite a lot now, let me run. Please, take whatever you need from this. I’ll see you soon, I won’t leave it as long as last time, I promise (I hardly ever promise lightly).
Stay healthy,
Oluwatoni
