Go easy on me

“Go easy on me baby, I was still a child, didn’t get the chance to feel the world around me.” IYKYK. Did anyone read my email heading and start humming to Adele?

Anyway, I'm here dropping into your inbox today to remind you to take it easy on yourself. Be kind to yourself.

Here are some affirmations I encourage you to reflect on, and say aloud too if they resonate with you.

I was created with intention.

I am deeply loved.

I am valuable.

I was made for awesome things.

Regardless of what others or even your inner critic may say, regardless of the challenges you've faced, the complexities ahead, and the hardships surrounding you . . . please, take it easy on yourself. Be kind to yourself.

Some things I want to share with you:

For your soul

Empowerment and Support for your Journey - Academics/Career

On Sunday, I hosted an Instagram Live on The Student's Friend (TSF) platform. I had a conversation with Nigerian writer, researcher and political analyst, Afolabi Adekaiyaoja, currently working as a Research Analyst at Centre for Democracy and Development. We spoke about his academic journey, studying for a BA International Relations and then MSc African Politics, and how he navigated these to attain his current position. It was such a rich discussion and he shared insights for struggling students, the importance of transferable skills, capitalising on our strengths, overcoming data scarcity in research, effective time management and more. You can catch up with the replay here: TSF Instagram Live with Afolabi.

Support a remarkable cause

In other news, Tunde Onakoya is currently 21 hours into his attempt to break the Guiness World Record for longest chess marathon in New York. His goal is to play for 58 hours surpassing the current record of about 56 hours!!! Tunde is also raising $1,000,000 to support children across Africa who lack access to education through the Chess in Slums initiative.

You can support by streaming his live chess game, amplifying his good work, and giving too. Here: https://tiltify.com/+tunde-onakoya/play-chess-with-tunde-onakoya

That's all for now friends. Remember to be kind to yourself and go easy on yourself. You're making progress!

Stay healthy,

Oluwatoni
